Ghana has been paired alongside world cup familiar opponents in Group H of the FIFA 2022 world cup in Qatar in a draw that was held this afternoon, 1 April 2022.
Ghana will play Portugal in the first match on 24 November before Korea Republic four days later with the final match against Uruguay.
Ghana have history with Uruguay in South Africa 2010. Sulley Ali Muntari had put Ghana ahead with a 35-yard strike just before halftime.
Diego Forlan pulled Uruguay level with a second half free kick goal. But as the game dragged into extra time, Dominic Adiyiah goal-bound header was blocked by Suarez with Ghana loosing eventually in penalty shoot-outs.
The 2022 draw presents another opportunity for these two countries to renew old rivalry in Qatar.
The Ghana match against Portugal also brings memories after the two countries met in the 2014 World cup with Portugal claiming a 2-1 victory on the day. A revenge for the Stars against familiar opponents.
