The FIG can now confirm the new host city and dates for the 84th Congress, with the event being held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 11–12 November.
The Executive Committee approved the proposal to move the Congress to Turkey following the Norwegian Gymnastics Federation’s decision to withdraw from hosting.
This alternative solution was quickly found thanks to the help of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation, which hosted the previous Congress last November in Antalya.
As usual, the Congress will be preceded by the meetings of the Presidential Commission on 8 November and the Executive Committee on 9–10 November.
Due to this change, the registration process will start over on 5 August. National federations will receive the new letter of invitation for the 84th Congress in Istanbul from the dedicated email address congress@fig.sport. The email will contain the registration link, and will specify the new deadlines and all relevant information regarding accommodation and travel.
The FIG is aware of the challenges caused by this unforeseen situation for all the national Gymnastics federations that were already duly registered for this Congress. The FIG is very sorry for the inconvenience, and can only thank the delegations again for their understanding and valuable collaboration.
