Thomas Partey hopes of silverware with Arsenal were smashed as the English premier league side failed to progress to the Europa league final.
The Ghanaian international struggled to inspire his side to overturn a 2-1 defeat of their semi-final second leg against Unai Emery’s Villarreal.
An uninspired Arsenal crashed out after a disappointing 0-0 draw at home.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came close by hitting the post twice but Arsenal never really got going and went out with a whimper after two disappointing nights.
Summing up their torrid domestic season, Partey’s Arsenal will be missing out European football next season with their current Premier League position of ninth.
