Ghana Premier League champions Medeama Sporting Club booked a first-leg advantage in the CAF Champions League qualifier on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Remo Stars.
Jonathan Sowah’s 22nd minute strike was enough for the Tarkwah based lads on the day to kickstart their African campaign ahead of a difficult second leg in Nigeria.
Medeama, who are only making their first appearance in the competition looked a better team for the majority of the opening half and rewarded with a goal after 22 minutes.
The game headed to the break with just the one goal from Sowah.
The away side came close to getting the equaliser in the second half but failed to utilise the chances that came their way.
Despite several attempts from both sides, none was able to add to the goal from the first half with the game ending 1-0.
Medeama will embark on a short trip to Nigeria next weekend for the second leg of the fixture hoping to advance to the next half round of the qualifiers.
