Three goals after the break gave Medeama a convincing 3-0 win against Dwarfs in a massive boost in their quest for the premier league title.

After Kotoko secured a hard fought victory over Legon Cities yesterday, all the pressure was on the Tarkwa based club to claim all three points in front of a home crowd.

Medeama’s coach Yaw Preko made two changes in the side that defeated Kotoko last weekend by handing a start to Ahmed Toure and Fatawu Sulemana.

That being said, the visit of Dwarfs was never going to be an easy task and especially with Dwarfs coming from a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Olympics in Cape Coast.

Dwarfs showed in the early moments that they meant business, finding space in the penalty area but their effort went wide. The Idekay lads really played up to the occasion and by strangling much of Medeama’s build-up play, they curated an incredibly frustrating half for the host.

However, that didn’t stop them from creating good openings as they came close before the break.

The first half ended goalless and there was a real tension in the air when the Mauve and Yellows emerged, no less than when they came close through Prince Opoku Agyemang chance.

Medeama proceeded to lay a siege on the Dwarfs half after another superb save from Dwarfs goalkeeper, but the breakthrough finally came from Yaw Preko’s men.

Joseph Tetteh Zuta’s inch perfect cross was met by Ahmed Toure to put Medeama in front four minutes into the second half.

Dwarfs had some half chances to draw the game level but the defensive solidarity of Medeama was in full swing.

Medeama was at it again. Doubled their lead through a fine finish from Ibrahim Yaro to put the match beyond Ebusua Dwarfs.

Prince Opoku Agyemang scored a season contender goal after connecting to Fatau Suleman’s pass for Medeama’s third.

The Mauve and Yellow regained their position atop the log with 39 points after the victory.
